How do we understand what someone else is experiencing, sensing, thinking, feeling? This epistemological question, known to Descartes as the Problem of Other Minds, is the subject of this series, investigating the perceptions and relationships between a snowboarder and his audience. In this initial exercise, a recording of the snowboarder’s jump is remapped to follow the actions of the rider throughout his maneuver. With the twists and turns of the rider’s perspective projected onto the viewer’s perspective, the acrobatics of the resulting composition allow viewers to understand the rider’s constant spotting and re-adjusting of his body’s movements though space.
